Alaska Family Services Treatment Center
The Alaska Family Resource Center was established in 1979 to respond to the needs of women and children in the Mat-Su Borough. The agency began with a small core of basic services and has now grown to provide a number of services for women, children and their families. All programs are designed to strengthen and support individuals and families.

AFS is a 501(c)3 non-profit social service agency that has a mission of providing "Services for Families" through intervention, referral, collaboration, and education. AFS provides numerous services and partnerships throughout the Mat-Su Valley.

Behavioral Health Services

The goal of Alaska Family Services clinical services division is to provide the highest quality behavioral health services, while specializing in substance abuse prevention and addiction.

Currently there are three programs available within the treatment center.

They are the:
- Adult Community Program
- Women and Children Program
- Youth Program

Additionally, the treatment center provides behavioral health assessments, individual, family, and group counseling, alcohol education, and a 24-hour crisis line. All programs are client-centered and family-oriented.

Adult Services

The treatment center providers specialized adult and family evening substance abuse treatment programs Monday through Friday, along with women's programs designed to address the specialized needs of women with children. Individual, family, and group counseling is also available, along with a 24-hour on call crisis line: 907-376-4000

Youth Services

The TA Youth program located in Wasilla Alaska provides substance abuse and mental health treatment to adolescents ranging in age from 13-18. The program is based on cognitive behavioral, experiential and strength based modalities that increase the opportunities for adolescents to be successful in treatment and in the community. The program is strengths based and uses the group and peer support as positive reinforces for appropriate behaviors. Adolescents are taught strategies to cope with anger, stress, cravings, and invitations to use drugs and alcohol.

Graduates are always welcome to return to group to provide additional support to the youth. Assessments are completed on and off site depending on client need.
